How I felt as Prop 8 took hold in California.
Now, in New York, we have a chance for a Democrat Senate Majority leader for the first time in decades. Sen. Malcolm Smith is up for majority leader. Because he supports eventually allowing gay marriage (economy is priority, as it should be), 4 democrats are threatening to vote Republican. These four men are prioritizing gay marriage over every other issue...over everything else their party stands for. They are using the tiebreaker vote as a bargaining chip for their own agenda. That is selfish, petty, and manipulative. It saddens me that such people represent the people. They also want to create a ballot for banning gay marriage. I'm worried. I have a 5 foot india ink coming with a similar theme. I also want to work on a more hopeful picture about keeping up the effort and hope. |

Bigotry, however, will really mess up society.
The last big set of fires from the summer went on for weeks. I remember driving past and the sky was nearly black.

I hear that 53% of voters approved Gov Patterson's ruling that out-of-state gay marriages were to be acknowledged in NY. 40% disapproved.
It sounds like good odds, but it looked that way in Cali too. There may not be an accurate sampling of our rural areas in upstate NY.
