Traditional Art / Paintings / Surreal

The first in a series of thematic paintings I hope to do.
Gouache on 24x18 bristol.

Please comment with your interpretation. What is happening here? Do you see any symbolism? What is she thinking, if anything? How does the piece make you feel? This is just as much study of how many ideas my imagery could generate as it is an exploration for me.

Wow...this is beautiful. I feel such warmth and peace, like the bright sun of summer. She doesn't seem extremely happy though...I see a lack of contentment on her face. Perhaps she's not resting, but dreaming of summers past and happier days. Beautiful. <3

Love this!
To me the girl has experienced a peaceful death. The white in the piece to me feels pure and clean. She has a good soul. Once her body breaks down the flowers grow from where she once laid. The purity of her being has fostered healthy and bountiful flowers.

Dreaming definitely more than thought. It kind of makes me think of death since her eyes are closed and the flowers are growing out of her. Maybe dreaming about death. Possibly rebirth since the colors are so vivid.
