Amy Thibodeaux, another playable character in my game Critical Shift. She’s a little bit based on Ben Franklin, in that she’s a bit of a mirror. Bookish but extroverted, and a bit manipulative, she is capable of easily changing her outward personality to get what she wants. She has a big ego, and is not afraid to indulge herself in the finer things, or childish diversions. Sometimes she’ll prioritize that hedonism, procrastinating and then skirting by on cleverness and excellent improvisation. Rani has little patience for her, but she gets on rather well with the others, particularly Issac. Fortunately, her egalitarian worldview drives her more important actions, and that noble quality occasionally softens Rani’s irritation.
Critical Shift is an educational adventure game about a batch of Time-Agents-In-Training going on missions in fun places like ancient Egypt and learning to use the internet to catch time bandits. This character-driven adventure game will teach kids how to do a keyword search, fact check, verify source validity, recognize hoax, bias, and propaganda, utilize deductive reasoning, and ultimately to navigate information technology through critical thinking. It further challenges kids to utilize the information they find and apply it towards decisions that actually affect the game’s outcomes.
She is one of 5 playable characters, so you can expect to see a lot more of her! You may not see any scenes like this in the final game, but I’m trying out a painting/lighting/color style. I tried something really different, pushing my color and value contrast, and getting more painterly.
